2-bedroom Villas in Bali, Indonesia

Bali is Indonesia’s most popular tourist location and is considered one of Asia's premier tropical island destinations. Steeped in history and renowned for its artistic way of life, Bali is a peaceful contrast to some of the more frantic destinations Asia has to offer.

The inner peace and creative talents of the Balinese has attracted artists the world over fascinated by local dancers, silversmiths, wood carvers, potters and painters that seem to pervade throughout the island. The abundant verdant fields and surrounding sea have long supplied Bali with an easy surplus of food leaving time for life’s more artistic past times. As a result everything in Bali has a creative and religious element centred around the local Banjar (residents association) – little, adorned temples are everywhere, doors are covered in intricate carvings, huge kites ward off evil spirits and colourful roadside ceremonies bring traffic to a standstill.

Bali is a popular destination principally from Australia and Asia but also from all over Europe. The island welcomes thousands of visitors each year to a relaxing lifestyle, stunning beaches, world class surf, vibrant villages, and spectacular scenery all with an exquisite tropical climate. Located approximately two hours’ flying time from Singapore the island is serviced by an international airport at Denpasar with direct flights to and from many major cities in Asia, Europe and Australia and many more via Jakarta, Indonesia’s capital.

The island offers an impressive range of leisure and lifestyle amenities including world-class golf courses, wonderful seascapes for surfing, diving and snorkelling as well as luxurious spas, chic boutiques, tropical forests, towering volcanoes and international cuisine.

Avalon II

Avalon II

Indonesia » Bali » Canggu area » Canggu

Hats off to the team at Villa Avalon II for delivering an amazing holiday experience. We were made to feel like VIPs with the most courteous care and would have gladly stayed forever in this fairytale setting close to the sea. We came to Bali to party, and this villa stole our hearts. Its proximity to the beachfront and a range of clubs and restaurants was what led us to Villa Avalon II. The location is something special, but the charm of the villa is indescribable.

We’ve rented other vacation homes in Bali, but never opted for a villa with living areas quite so open to the elements. I’m not the woodsy camping type. But Avalon II’s open-sided living room is gorgeous in every way and befits a grand Balinese holiday home. The space combines the modern with the traditional and the fab with the practical. I was blown away by details like a hand-carved wooden ceiling and the grand woven basket which is lovely art and holds umbrellas at the ready in case of tropical showers.

Initially hesitant about Avalon II’s layout, I now think that every two-bedroom villa should be just like this, with an outdoor living room by the swimming pool. Again, it must be said that behind the magical experience at the villa are the staff members who tirelessly keep things sparkling and deliver meals like clockwork, working discreetly in the background. We’re bragging about this trip to everyone we know, hoping that they’ll join us for a short break, and perhaps we can all stay in the main villa together for a group holiday. With or without others, we’ll be back. Don’t change a thing.

Villa Belong Dua

Villa Belong Dua

Indonesia » Bali » Canggu area » Seseh-Tanah Lot

For a two-bedroom villa, Belong Dua delighted us with its generosity of space. The sitting room is huge and there’s a home theatre as well (a surprise, as this is usually reserved for at least a three-bedder). The garden and pool are also unusually large; the owners could have easily snuck one more bedroom pavilion in, but we are so happy they didn’t because it has left a wonderfully open space with wide sky views fringed by coconut palms and towering mature trees.

This is a real Bali experience, well away from the fashionable see-and-be-seen café culture of downtown Bali, but still with four-poster beds and gorgeous outdoor bathrooms to rival any of the big boys. When swimming in the pool, make sure you look up at the reflection in the big mirror that sits on the living room wall: the illusion doubles the size of the villa’s garden. And when have you ever seen yourself swimming before!? Sunsets on the beach are a short stroll away and do jump on one of the villa’s bicycles and head off out among the rice fields to explore the real Bali even further. The area is relatively flat and shady and the local people will never let you get lost.

Villa Canggu North

Villa Canggu North

Indonesia » Bali » Canggu area » Canggu

Our inspection revealed that Villa Canggu North would be a great choice for a small family or four friends who want to escape from the hustle and bustle of Seminyak.  The pool and its deck is an extension of the large living and dining room, which can be alternatively be closed off for air-conditioned comfort.  The beach is not a great swimming beach – this is a coast surfing Mecca – so do take care.  It is fascinating, however, watching the local community at work. The boat sculpture in the living space is a work of art, not a toy, so if you have young children you will need to keep little fingers in check!

Villa Capung

Villa Capung

Indonesia » Bali » Jimbaran - Bukit » The Bukit

Villa Capung is refreshingly unpretentious, the kind of place where you walk in, promptly collapse on the sofa and immediately feel right at home (if only home had views like this!). While the villa is not huge, the views of pristine hills and the expanse of Indian Ocean that spread before you create a seemingly endless sense of space, and the villa has been cleverly designed to maximise options for privacy. The master suite is gigantic, while the second bedroom has its own private deck as does the garden suite.

The owners spend quite a bit of time here, and have struck a perfect balance between elegance and comfort: this very popular villa feels well loved and lived in. Enjoying the views from the infinity pool was a definite highlight, especially in the soft late-afternoon light, which deepens the colours of the leafy foliage in the garden. However, Capung really comes into its own in the evening when dark amber lamps cast a seductive glow over the living room, accentuating the crimson furnishings.  Spotlights illuminate the palms and lotus pond, and the lights of Bali twinkle like a fairyland far below. There is a wonderful heady sensation of being so high up, and the villa seems remarkably good value considering these million dollar views.

The staff are efficient and kind, immediately on hand if we needed something, but entirely unobtrusive the rest of the time, and we loved that they can mix cocktails!

Eshara II

Eshara II

Indonesia » Bali » Greater Seminyak » Seminyak

Eshara works as well as an eight (or five) bedroom residence as it does as three smaller individual villas.  With all the connecting walls slid back and hidden away it certainly feels open and spacious.  The pools do dominate the gardens, leaving relatively small patches of open lawn, however there is plenty of deck space with loungers and outdoor seating.  We would certainly recommend the combined villas for a group of up to 16 who want to be centrally located.  You do not get more ‘in town’ than this.

All the bedrooms are well designed with modern ensuite bathrooms and plenty of storage, and most open out onto the pleasant garden. Blackout curtains and TVs are nice touches.

During our visit, the staff looked after us really well with smiling service and a willingness to please that made us feel very comfortable.

Kalimaya II

Kalimaya II

Indonesia » Bali » Greater Seminyak » Seminyak

When we first opened the gilded Balinese doors onto Kalimaya II’s garden, we thought we’d come to the wrong place – surely it was too big to be only a two-bedroom villa? The element of surprise was maintained throughout our visit, as we discovered not one but two living rooms as well as a separate dining room and a second dining area on the upstairs terrace – an extraordinary amount of space, especially in such a hip Seminyak hotspot.

This is a really well-designed, well-furnished villa with a lot of extra details to ensure a comfortable, cossetted stay. With the large pool, jacuzzi and infra-red sauna to frolic in (plus four TVs and DVD players), there was plenty to keep us occupied without making use of the complimentary Canggu Club membership. And when we did step beyond the villa walls, we were on the beach or in Seminyak’s best restaurants and boutiques within minutes.

This is the perfect place for a couple, two couples or a family of four who want to be sociable and yet still be able to get away from each other. The cook, butlers and housekeepers – all charming and helpful – divide their time between this and the other three Kalimaya villas along the same quiet lane. We considered this a bonus as it means guests benefit from a professional team, but privacy is not compromised by their continued presence – and it means that self-catering is a personal choice, not a prerequisite.

When we first opened the gilded Balinese doors into Villa Kalimaya IV, we were immediately taken with the large pool that runs the length of the garden, with its huge jacuzzi, infra-red sauna, sunbathing deck and imposing raised balé. The element of surprise was maintained throughout our visit, as we discovered not one but two living rooms as well as a second dining area on the upstairs terrace – an extraordinary amount of space, especially in such a hip Seminyak hotspot.

This is the perfect place for a family or group of friends who want to be sociable and yet still be able to get away from each other. Villa Kedidi

Villa Kedidi

Indonesia » Bali » Canggu area » Canggu

Villa Kedidi is a little Balinese gem, a breezy, traditional residence in the heart of Canggu. We were a group of friends looking to enjoy Bali’s clubs and nightlife and the location was absolutely ideal. After late nights, mornings were idyllic, laying on sun loungers in the small, private garden, surrounded by palm and frangipani trees. Come evening and the candles around the garden lit by the staff made for a very romantic backdrop whilst dining or lounging in the main building. Kedidi is more compact than Villa Kakatua, its four-bedroomed sister next door, but hiring both villas (they share staff and a management office) would give you enough room to comfortably sleep 14 adults.. We found the staff very attentive and professional, and it’s very convenient having a car and driver available at a reasonable price, as driving in Bali takes some getting used to!

We love staying in Canggu. It’s rapidly becoming one of the most popular areas in Bali, yet it retains a rural charm and there are still a few fields and rice paddies to be found in between the villas. Canggu also offers quaint and varied dining spots along with a rugged surf beach. Taking into account its wonderful location and authentic Balinese ambiance, we think Villa Kedidi offers very good value for money.

Lakshmi Villas - Kawi

Lakshmi Villas - Kawi

Indonesia » Bali » Greater Seminyak » Seminyak

Most villas of this size in Seminyak are self catering, so a personal butler on call 24/7, plus a menu of delicious food (prepared by a chef in the main service kitchen), is a treat indeed. Villa Kawi is very private, and immaculately clean, even though it was built in 2006 it still looks spanking new. The furnishings are all high quality with rattan sofas and gorgeous fabrics and artwork. If you’re into shopping, going to the beach, fine dining and nightlife, this is one of the best locations in Bali; it’s all within walking distance. Another thing we liked about Villa Kawi is that it’s at the end of a cul-de-sac so there’s no sound of passing traffic, and it’s very safe and secure.
