The upper floor of the two-storey Villa M houses the master bedroom pavilion, plus the living room, dining room and kitchen, set in open-plan spaces under elegant vaulted wooden roofs with walls of glass that slide open onto the deck around the huge 25m infinity-edge pool.

The dining table seats 12 while, to the back of the dining area, facing the superbly equipped guest kitchen, a breakfast bar seats five.  Down a couple of steps from the dining pavilion is the villa’s most recent addition, a purpose-built entertainment terrace with large comfortable sofas and a top-notch sound system.

Down a couple of steps from the dining pavilion is the villa’s most recent addition, a purpose-built entertainment terrace with large comfortable sofas and a top-notch sound system.

In the vast, open-fronted living room, orange and black leather sofas provide comfortable seating, and giant Champagne corks carved of pale wood make ideal tables on which to rest your glass.

Beyond the living room is the master bedroom pavilion.  This sumptuous suite has sea views from its four-poster king-bed, a walk-in dressing room, direct access to the pool, and an elaborately equipped bathroom featuring a terrazzo bathtub, with a a separate shower room.  Above, up a spiral staircase is an office – or perhaps simply an escape to complete peace and quiet.

From the master suite entrance a staircase leads down to the softly lit lower floor corridor (there’s another, outdoor staircase at the opposite end of the villa).  To the left is the villa’s second master suite, a huge room lined with wardrobe space, and a big window onto that all-present ocean view.  The large bathroom here also has a free-standing bathtub, and there’s a roomy balcony with views of the sea and of the jungled hillside.

Walk back along the corridor and you pass three more bedrooms, two with king-size beds, and one with twin beds that makes a great kids bedroom.  At the far end, where the open-air stairs lead up, is the entertainment room, equipped with a profusion of devices, including a 65-inch screen satellite channel TV, DVD library and the full gamut of electronic games (Wii, X-Box AND Playstation).

Still on the same floor, set below the entertainment area, are the spa room and well-equipped gym, which also contains the villa’s pool table. There’s a punch bag and gloves here too, for anyone who needs to let off steam.
