Acclaimed landscape architect, Bill Bensley, masterminded the ‘organised wildness’ of Panacea Retreat’s tropical grounds, and his inspired landscaping continues throughout the villas’ hilltop gardens.  Atulya Residence's simple yet well-planned layout is split over three levels, with indoor living and dining areas on the top floor, one master suite and three guest bedrooms in the middle, and the second master suite, swimming pool, dining sala and swim-up bar below.

Entering over a water feature, large wooden doors welcome you to the living pavilion, where floor-to-ceiling glass offers 180-degree views of Samui’s northern bays, beaches and the sparkling waters of the Gulf of Thailand to the front, and jungle-clad hills to either side.  An open-plan kitchen fitted with state-of-the-art appliances and a breakfast bar is situated at one end of this bright space, while a comfortable lounge area fills the other, focusing on a large flat-screen TV, complete with satellite channels, music system and DVD player.  Suspended above the square eight-seater dining table at the centre of the room is a chandelier of elegant Asian-style lanterns.  Bowls of fruit, bold flower arrangements, statues and objets d’art add interest to this comfortable and chic living space.  Couches are positioned on the balcony to enjoy the views and catch the breeze, and a guest bathroom serves this area.

Down a few stairs, Atulya Residence’s two master bedrooms are situated one above the other in a stand-alone pavilion.  The upper master boasts a vaulted ceiling and private balcony, while the lower room opens onto the 20m pool.  Flanking the pool are plenty of umbrella-shaded sun loungers and the dining/barbecue sala and swim-up bar.  A further three bedrooms are set slightly further back, below the living area, overlooking the swimming pool and garden.

All five bedrooms are stylishly and comfortably furnished, and come with king-size beds and ensuite bathrooms.  All offer seating areas, a mini bar, as well as satellite TVs and DVD players.  The master suites, which are slightly larger than the guest rooms, boast not only rain showers, but also large, terrazzo bathtubs.
