L'Orchidee Residences - Villa Disa B7 Reviews

This luxurious, well-managed villa set up in the hills overlooking Patong is one of the few holiday homes in Phuket that can truly claim to offer the best of both worlds. Within minutes we could reach the busy beach resort town of Patong and delve into its myriad nightlife, dining and shopping choices – then escape back up into Villa Disa’s peaceful elegance with ease. We sunk in and stretched out in style, and our worries disappeared amid the superb level of comfort offered throughout, from the plush living room furnishings to the shaded terrace with heaps of space for lounging or dining alfresco by the pool, to the private bedrooms. We could see that a lot of care and high-quality craftsmanship had gone into all the details including the wooden furnishings and the fresco-adorned wall along the pool.

Though an in-villa chef and service staff can be provided on request, we opted to be left to our own devices and ordered à la carte. Meals were brought quickly from the estate’s central kitchen and were superb, mainly Thai with some innovative flourishes. Though the indoor table was a lovely place to dine, we usually took our meals out on the terrace to best enjoy the sea view and the fan-cooled fresh air.

Overall, there's something to satisfy everyone at Villa Disa: space, calm, a family-friendly environment, a terrific range of services and facilities for entertaining in style, and easy access to a wealth of attractions for those seeking more adventure – be it a challenging round of golf or a night out on the town. Kids especially will delight in having a choice to play in the villa's private pool or hang out with other children in the estate’s communal pool and shallow children's pool at the clubhouse nearby.

Highlights

Most appealing for us was the villa’s tranquillity and sea view, which is superb from all of its front-facing rooms. By day, the curving white-sand bay of Patong and the sapphire sea beyond offers an inviting tropical vista, while by night the lights of the city twinkle and beckon in the valley below. Though built in 2006, the villa looks fresh and new: it's clearly very well maintained and efficiently managed. The seamless, professional level of service offered by the L'Orchidée team also gets our 'thumbs up'.

Surprises

The villas within the estate are quite close to each other, removing a complete sense of privacy, though Villa Disa B7 benefits from being at the edge of the estate. The third bedroom, while well equipped and comfortable, is set at the back and lacks a sea view. Stairs and steep hills throughout the estate will be difficult for some to manage, though the free buggy service helps immensely.
