Perched at the windswept edge of a lush Kamala promontory, Villa Minh is an enthralling escape.  First, the views. Not only were we treated with a breathtaking panorama of blazing sunsets over the sea, but also of the crags and jungle-clad hills of the headland, most impressively from the lower-level master suite that offers a dreamy view of a palm-tree studded outcrop surrounded by the swirling emerald sea.  During our stay the skilled and friendly staff certainly freed us from any worry or discomfort, and Minh’s exceptionally elegant design provides plenty of inspiration.  This would be a special place to get married, and we were told that a wedding with 40 guests was to be staged here soon.  The marble-tiled infinity pool makes for an indulgent dip.  We discovered why the villa manager referred to it as the “bling pool” when purple and white lights began twinkling from its depths after dark!  A lot of thought went into the art collection here, which is an interesting mix of bright contemporary paintings and Asian antiques. Certificate books on the living room’s coffee table provide insight into the age and origin of each of the antiques. Here we must praise the Minh team for ensuring that every sense is enlivened, most obviously with the sights, but even the olfactory experience has been well thought out.  Every room has its own aromatic incense and we can declare that Minh has the best smelling bedlinens we’ve ever encountered.  Really, we just wanted to bury our heads in those pillows and never get out of bed! We’re still miffed that we forgot to ask the cleaning staff about their scintillating scent secrets.

Highlights

The incredible views and sheer grandeur of Villa Minh’s design. The massage sala and wooden deck out front offer inspiring places to relax. The chef’s meals are excellent, served in generous portions and delightfully presented (his chicken massaman curry is a must).

Surprises

With a steep drop-off from the pool, limited outdoor space and lots of antiques, this is not an ideal villa for children.  The bedrooms are huge and beautiful, but we felt that some lounge furniture would have enhanced their overall comfort level.  Some of the woodwork outside was looking a bit weatherworn, but overall we were impressed with the high quality of upkeep at Minh, given its exposure to the tropical elements.

We had a long and memorable stay here at Villa Minh. All I can say is that this was one of the best holidays we've been on. The chef's cooking was perfect, and the villa itself is beautiful with a stunning view and top-notch facilities. However, best of all was the staff service. We were always greeted with a warm smile. Almost anything we wanted was provided. I genuinely believe one could not ask for more! Thank You.

Thank you to the wonderful staff at Villa Minh for making our stay so memorable. The food was the best we've had in Thailand, and we adored the happy smiley chef. Originally we wanted to try other restaurants but couldn't resist staying in to enjoy the beautiful villa, sea view and food. Our baby boy also loved playing in the pool and the staff were very playful with him. Truly a very relaxing vacation!!!
