The Experience
With its stark modern exterior and spacious, stylish interiors, three-bedroom Hachiko Chalet is the perfect self-catering stay for families and groups looking for a quintessential Hokkaido experience. It is located on a quiet street in Hirafu Village, within 500 metres of some of Niseko’s best restaurants and bars, be they authentic izakayas, or Michelin-starred French restaurants. Its convenient location is a big draw, with the Hirafu Gondola just over a kilometre away and accessible via complimentary shuttle.
Designed to take advantage of the views and natural light, the top level of this exquisite home encompasses the kitchen, living and dining areas, fully equipped to accommodate small groups, with a comfortable L-shaped sofa, 50-inch Apple TV and a six-seater dining table. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow stunning views of Mount Yotei, and you can also step out on to the balcony for a breath of the crisp mountain air.
The master bedroom is located at entry level, alongside a large drying room for storage of ski and sports equipment. The remaining two bedrooms are located one floor below. Outside, there’s a parking space - a rare luxury in the narrow streets of the village.
A driver is available on call from 8am to 6pm for transfers within Hirafu Village. Other services such as chef-on-call with Niseko Gourmet, babysitting, deep tissue massages and visits to the onsen or therapeutic hot springs are easily arranged through the concierge (at an extra charge).
Hachiko Chalet is perfect for up to six guests who will love its location, as well as its spacious and elegant alpine design.

Elegant, modern three-bedroom chalet in the heart of Hirafu with lots of natural light.
The muted earth tones throughout the chalet have a lovely grounding effect, and the decor and design is sleek Scandinavian chic, a real joy to step into and wake up to.
The bedrooms being spread out over two levels meant that each member of our group had a comfortable ‘nest’ to retreat to whether to catch up on some sleep, read a book or get a massage in peace. The addition of a drying room for skis and boots, plus the laundry facilities, dishwasher, and car parking space are also great facilities.
Then, there’s the complimentary housekeeping and the driver-on call service which was great! We used this to go to the supermarket and for daily trips to and from the gondola with all our gear.
We loved wandering out into the charming streets of Hirafu village; there are bars, restaurants, boutiques and cafes to be discovered, though be careful in winter time - the roads can get slippery.
One evening, we indulged in a celebratory meal at home cooked by Niseko Gourmet, and it was superb. The chef prepared an omakase (degustation) meal featuring seasonal Hokkaido ingredients especially for us.

Location
Staying in a quiet street in the heart of Hirafu Village means you’re removed from the bustle of tourist season. Here, it’s possible to sit on the balcony and revel in the majestic view of Mount Yotei in tranquillity, winter or summer.
Some of Niseko’s best restaurants are within walking distance, an easy 500 metre stroll from the chalet. We like Bar Gyu for an après ski drink or two, Bar Moon for steaming ramen, Ezo Seafoods for delectable fruits de mer, and Yui Izakaya for traditional Hokkaido dishes.
On the main street or Route 343, you’ll find boutiques, car rentals, convenience stores and coffee shops. Further uphill, the Hirafu Gondola provides access to multiple levels of ski runs.

About Hirafu
Located a three-hour drive from Sapporo airport, Hirafu is one of four interconnected ski resorts (alongside Hanazono, Niseko Village and Annupuri) that make up Niseko – also known as the world's second snowiest ski area.
As a dining and entertainment hub, the village of Hirafu's vast number of stylish eateries has been one of the driving forces behind Niseko's stellar rise as a world-class tourist destination. From casual lunch hangouts such as the Green Farm Café, to stylish fine dining at Ichimura - one of two Michelin-starred restaurants in Hirafu - you'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to high-quality international and Japanese fare.
If you still have energy to spare, Hirafu's nightlife is as shiny and vibrant as its powder. Have some fun family time or make new friends in one of the traditional Japanese karaoke bars, or step through Bar Gyu's fridge door - quite literally - to sample its quirky jazzy vibes and rare Japanese whiskies.
Although the ski season stretches well into late spring, Hirafu's spectacular backcountry offers plenty of outdoor activities all year-round. From white water rafting on the Shiribetsu river or relaxing in one of the many thermal springs (or 'onsen'), to mountain biking down volcanic slopes or climbing the stunning Mount Yotei – there are countless ways to entertain yourself during the summer months.
About Niseko
Known as the world's second snowiest ski area, Niseko is famed for its incredible forested slopes and huge powder fields. Located a three-hour drive from Sapporo airport, the area's four interconnected ski resorts – Hirafu, Hanazono, Niseko Village and Annupuri – cater to all levels, from budding first-time skiers to accomplished off-piste snowboarders. Although the ski season stretches well into late spring, Niseko's awe-inspiring nature makes it a hub for outdoor activity all year-round.
Rooms
The modern exterior of slate and steel gives way to elegant interiors with warm tones of blonde wood, slate tiling, and white walls.
The drying room and laundry room are located at entry level, and further down the corridor the master bedroom invites you to sink into the comfortable double bed. A 42-inch Apple TV is on hand for entertainment on nights in. It has an ensuite bathroom as well as a modern Japanese WC located separately at the end of the hall.
Two guest bedrooms are one floor below, each with an Apple TV, and sharing a spacious bathroom with a shower and bathtub. All bedrooms feature double beds which can be configured as twin beds, ample storage and lush carpeted floors.
The uppermost floor is bright and inviting, with a large cosy L-shaped sofa where you will invariably find everyone converging at the end of a long day. Though the glass walls play their part in bringing in the outdoors, you can also step out into the balcony which opens up to magnificent mountain views. The six-seater dining room dominates the middle of the floor, while the contemporary kitchen and its vast island worktop anchors the other end, awaiting a feast of Hokkaido’s stellar seafood, meat, fruit and vegetables.
