2 bedroom villa located in The Bukit, Bali. Ideal for Beach in ten, Fair share for groups, Gastronomic delights, Going for golf, Kid friendly, Romantic retreats, Room with a view, Spa sensation, The great outdoors.
The Mood is an exclusive two-bedroomed lover’s rendezvous high on Bali’s Bukit Peninsular, and not for the shallow of pocket. One of an enclave of three superb cliff-top villas known as The edge, it comes fully staffed with five-star service and facilities. As romantic as the day is long.
One night in The Mood was definitely not enough, and we wished we could have stayed longer. Although we could see the benefits of the villa for a couple of couples or friends, or even a small family, we were in our element as a solo couple taking advantage of The Mood’s good-mood-creating ambiance. We woke to views of the ocean; we swam au naturel in the pool – the staff are super-discreet – we lunched on fine foods and wines; we were pampered in the spa; we soaked up the rays until the sun was low, and then headed down to the cliff-side communal restaurant for a sundowner and a gourmet meal under the stars. Ahhh… Needless to say, we were definitely in the mood.

Highlights
This is a super-sexy villa for any high-flying couple on honeymoon or a sly weekender, so lovers take note. Here you can enjoy views, sunsets, five-star service and facilities all wrapped up in natural splendour. The highly trained staff will help to ensure you have a very memorable stay.
Surprises
If the main villa, The View, is occupied by guests from another group you will not have access to the stunning home theatre or kids’ room. That said, the TV in the villa is more than adequate to sate the most fervent movie buff and, as for the kids, what they don’t know won’t hurt them. Keep the doors and windows shut when you aren’t around to police monkey comings and goings. They love shiny objects.

The Experience
If you want to be the envy of all your newly wedded friends, then book yourselves into The Mood, a honeymoon villa par excellence. This stunning two-bedroom villa is a truly exclusive venue for those who seek, and find, the very best. Part of the three-villa estate, The edge (which also includes three-bedroomed The Cliff and five-bedroomed The View), on the southern cliffs of Bali’s Bukit Peninsula, their Royal Highnesses William and Kate would have had no complaints spending their honeymoon in this castle on the edge of the world.
This is a villa with a million dollar vista. Two identical bedrooms, each with a private balcony, and a large yet intimate open-plan living–dining room, all offer stunning views of the adjacent jungle-clad valley and out to the deep blue yonder through floor-to-ceiling glass doors that can be peeled back to let the sea breezes come in and caress you like a lover.
Fully staffed by a discreet team of highly trained professionals, including Magnum trained butlers and five-star chefs, every whim will be catered for at the drop of a hat. From champagne to caviar, all you have to do is ask. Cheap it is not, but you get what you pay for and the high quality fittings, furnishings and breathtaking views are all well worth the expense. One thing is for certain, you will have no problem whatsoever getting in the mood.
Romance aside, if not celebrating a honeymoon or a sneaky weekend away, the extra bedroom will provide the perfect combination for a small family or a couple of couples looking for peace, quiet and impeccable surroundings. As well as the villa’s own great offerings, guests in The Mood also have a free run of the estate’s facilities including the gorgeous destination spa, the cliff side restaurant and bar, plus the common pool and fitness area. If the main villa, The View, is unoccupied then the playroom, office, cigar room and home cinema are also at your disposal.
There is simply nothing in the immediate vicinity apart from the truly exceptional view, an undescendable cliff, the vast Indian Ocean, and a couple of local shops selling cigarettes, cold drinks and instant noodles, but the villa is so self-contained it matters not a jot. The closest neighbour is the Bulgari Resort (700m) with two fine-dining restaurants.
About The Bukit The Bukit (which means ‘hill' in Indonesian) is a 140-square-kilometre rugged limestone peninsula that dangles like a pendant upon a chain at the southern tip of Bali. Until recently, this windswept outcrop - revered by the Balinese who have built a series of temples around its perimeter, including the spectacular Pura Luhur Uluwatu - was home solely to seaweed farmers, fisherman and die-hard surfers. In recent years, however, it has reinvented itself to become the most upmarket destination on the island. The Bukit now boasts some of Bali's most opulent destination villas, glamorous private estates, internationally-branded boutique hotels, and ‘One of Asia's 5 Best Golf Courses' according to Fortune Magazine, making it the area of choice for discerning travellers and residents. Most development has taken place along the isthmus connecting The Bukit to the rest of Bali, with the beautiful sunsets and sandy beaches of Jimbaran to the west and Benoa Harbour to the east. Further along the coast to the east, are a string of resorts and hotels set along the pretty swimming beaches of Nusa Dua. But despite recent development, The Bukit remains sparsely populated and has retained a desolate beauty. Its turquoise waters are the playground of migrating whales, and when the waves are calm and the tide is full, turtles and dugongs can be seen swimming close to the shore. The rocky landscape is dotted with wild flowers, manioc, prickly pear cactus, scarlet flowering flamboyants and fascinating kapok trees. The Bukit is also home to some of the most idyllic beaches in Bali; hidden sandy coves – a dream for both surfers and non-surfers alike (although not always safe for swimming). Even in the rainy season The Bukit is a reliable sun-trap.
About Bali Bali is Indonesia's most popular tourist location and is considered one of Asia's premier tropical island destinations. Steeped in history and renowned for its artistic way of life, Bali is a peaceful contrast to some of the more frantic destinations Asia has to offer. The inner peace and creative talents of the Balinese has attracted artists the world over fascinated by local dancers, silversmiths, wood carvers, potters and painters that seem to pervade throughout the island. The abundant verdant fields and surrounding sea have long supplied Bali with an easy surplus of food leaving time for life's more artistic past times. As a result everything in Bali has a creative and religious element centred around the local Banjar (residents association) – little, adorned temples are everywhere, doors are covered in intricate carvings, huge kites ward off evil spirits and colourful roadside ceremonies bring traffic to a standstill. Bali is a popular destination principally from Australia and Asia but also from all over Europe. The island welcomes thousands of visitors each year to a relaxing lifestyle, stunning beaches, world class surf, vibrant villages, and spectacular scenery all with an exquisite tropical climate. Located approximately two hours' flying time from Singapore the island is serviced by an international airport at Denpasar with direct flights to and from many major cities in Asia, Europe and Australia and many more via Jakarta, Indonesia's capital. The island offers an impressive range of leisure and lifestyle amenities including world-class golf courses, wonderful seascapes for surfing, diving and snorkelling as well as luxurious spas, chic boutiques, tropical forests, towering volcanoes and international cuisine.
The Mood is a two-storey building comprising two bedrooms upstairs and an L-shaped, open-plan, living and dining room below with a kitchen, bar and separate staff kitchen. The downstairs area is surrounded by bi-fold floor-to-ceiling glass doors that lead out to a large deck and swimming pool.
The dining area has a majestic eight-seater dining table placed under a stunning modern candelabra. To the side is a wooden sideboard with a mirror. The living area is characterised by massive sofas, which could easily seat up to 20 people, set facing a 60-inch satellite-channel TV and DVD player, plus a Mini Mac containing hundreds of movies and TV programmes. Two glass tabletops rest upon a pair of solid stone blocks to form coffee tables in front of the sofas. Along one wall is an intricately carved Indonesian screen inlaid with mirrors, while funky lamps complete the scene. The separate kitchen is designed mainly for staff use but comes fully equipped.
In front of the dining area is a terrace, sheltered by a roof and furnished with two pairs of chairs beside small tables. Adjacent is a lily and bulrush pond with bubbling water features, and a teakwood deck upon which rest two pairs of teak sun loungers and sun shades. The decking extends around the corner of the building in an L-shape with a balé bengong (relaxation pavilion) at the corner and a swimming pool on the other side overlooking a green valley to the sea. The 13m lap pool has views of the ocean in one direction and of a deep, jungle-clad valley at the other; home to a clan of monkeys.
Guests at The Mood also have full use of estate's communal facilities which include a fully equipped gym, a spa and a cliff-top restaurant and bar, all situated around the stunning communal pool. The gym provides great work-out views, while the treatment areas at the adjacent spa also face out into the blue. At the very front of the estate, above the cliff, is the bar and covered dining area where non-acrophobic guests can gaze down to the crating surf below through reinforced glass floor plates.
One night in The Mood was definitely not enough, and we wished we could have stayed longer. Although we could see the benefits of the villa for a couple of couples or friends, or even a small family, we were in our element as a solo couple taking advantage of The Mood’s good-mood-creating ambiance.
