3 bedroom villa located in Canggu, Bali. Ideal for Beach in ten, Body and soul, Bring the relatives, Fair share for groups, Gastronomic delights, Kid friendly, Party pads, Sensible for seniors.
A classic Balinese holiday villa in peaceful, picturesque Canggu only 200m from the beach. If open-air living and charming interiors within a tropical walled garden with 10m pool appeals, then 3-bedroom, family-friendly Villa Kedidi, with its team of welcoming staff, including a car and driver, is perfect.
Classic, open-air, Balinese living only 200m from the beach.
Villa Kedidi is a little Balinese gem, a classic Bali residence in an area where contemporary villas are popping up quicker than we can visit them. Without being absolute beachfront, Kedidi’s location is as good as it gets in Canggu (due to inflated land prices there are very few beachfront villas in this area). The small, private garden is an oasis in which you can spend your days on the sun loungers and your nights under the floodlit palm and frangipani trees. This, coupled with the candles around the garden lit by the staff each evening, makes for a very romantic backdrop whilst dining or lounging in the main building. Kedidi is more compact than Villa Kakatua, it’s four-bedroomed sister next door, but hiring both villas (they share staff and a management office) would give you enough room to comfortably sleep 14 people (probably a few more if you are holidaying with young children). We found the staff very attentive and professional, and it’s very convenient having a car and driver included in the package as driving in Bali takes some getting used to!
We love staying in Canggu. It’s rapidly becoming one of the most popular areas in Bali, yet it retains a rural charm and there are still a few fields and rice paddies to be found in between the villas. That’s not to say it will be everyone’s preference as there is no shopping or nightlife here (nor any air conditioning in the open-air living areas) – you must travel into Seminyak for this. However Canggu does offer some quaint and varied dining spots along with a rugged surf beach. Taking into account its wonderful location and authentic Balinese ambiance, we think Villa Kedidi offers very good value for money.

Villa Kedidi was truly beautiful, a tranquil oasis to escape the hustle and bustle of the rest of Bali. The villa was tastefully decorated with beautiful Balinese artifacts yet it was comfortable and homely. Our 3 teenagers enjoyed it too. The layout of the villa meant that we could all have our privacy. Great that there is internet access. The pool was lovely too and large enough to actually swim in. Villa Kedidi's location in Canggu is ideal, situated very close to Echo beach which has great waves if you're a surfer. Loads of great places to eat close by too if you decide that you don't want to eat at home. Food in Villa good but didn't really like to have think about what I wanted to eat the day before. Also didn't like having to say exactly how many pancakes etc I wanted for breakfast. Overall though we really enjoyed our time in Villa Kedidi. Great selection of DVDs for those days or nights when you just feel like staying home. Great little library too.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The staff were friendly, professional and very accomodating. The Villa itself as lovely, will a fantastic pool and nice bedrooms. The kitchen itself is fairly poor compared to the rest of the Villa, but given it comes with a chef you hardly ever step into it and hence it was not really a concern.
The location is nice and quiet and just near the beach with great surfing and the provision of a driver made going elsewhere very easy.
I'd thoroughly recommend the Villa to anyone else thinking of booking it.
Set close to the beach among the rice fields of sleepy Canggu with only its big sister, Villa Kakatua, and the stunning Hotel Tugu for company, Kedidi is a colourful, exotic and very traditional Balinese villa where alang-alang thatched roofs soar above open-sided living areas adorned with antique Indonesian furniture, spilling out onto a compact, but lush walled garden. Exotic palms and frangipani trees create a tropical paradise around the centrepiece, a 10m x 4.5m pool.
This three-bedroom villa is perfectly equipped for small groups or families. It is well set up for youngsters and seniors, everything being on one level. With the pool monopolising the garden and a good selection of pool toys to keep the children happy (there’s even a safety fence for the pool), parents can relax. Neither are there too many of those tricky-to-navigate stepping-stone walkways to negotiate.
The charming mix of indoor/outdoor living space allows freedom to choose where to spend your day: dozing on a daybed at the poolside, playing water polo with the kids, lounging on one of the shady verandas, or having a quiet read in the airy living room while listening to your iPod (docking station supplied). When you feel the desire to stretch your legs, a visit next door to the fascinating ‘museum’ Hotel Tugu is a must, and Canggu beach is virtually on your doorstep too. A stroll along the sand at sunset, topped off with a refreshing beer at one of the many cafes at Echo Beach might just be the way to finish a perfect day.
There’s really no reason to venture much further than this as a professional team of friendly staff are on hand look after your every need, preparing delicious meals from a suggestion menu (provisions on guest account). However, should you wish to spread your wings a little wider, the bright lights of Seminyak or the cultural delights of Ubud are very accessible thanks to the provision of a car and driver (optional extra).
Villa Kedidi and its sister, Villa Kakatua (a four-bedroom property situated next door), have only one other nearby neighbour: the Tugu Hotel, a stunning boutique hotel-museum stacked with antiques and a ‘must visit’ during your stay. To the north and east of the villa views are of empty fields with the occasional cow wandering past. It’s very peaceful – a little slice of Balinese suburbia. The quiet Canggu Beach is 200m from the villa and is a great spot for surfing and sunset walks. Swimming is not advised as there are strong under-currents and no lifeguards in this area. An ancient temple built from coral looks out to the ocean 200m from the villa where there are often ceremonies that spill out onto the beach.
About Canggu Canggu is actually a small fishing village, but has become the collective name for a number of villages (including Berawa, Tegal Gundul, Tiyingtukul, Pererenan, Nelayan, Babakan ) which, despite lying within a developing area, can still be described as a sleepy coastal locale. Here, amongst the rice fields which extend all the way down to the beach, you will find some of the most luxurious private residences on Bali. It is also an area that most surfers will know about, with reef swells that are larger than those you will find in Kuta further south. Swimming isn't advisable however as the rips can be dangerous. Nearby sporting facilities include the Canggu Club (of which many holiday villas in the area include guest membership), offering social and leisure amenities, including a state-of-the art gym, a 25m swimming pool and a tennis and squash centre. Along the coast to the north of Canggu is the Nirwana Bali Golf Club which was designed by Greg Norman and is frequently voted the number one golf course in Asia. Next to this is Pura Tanah Lot; a sea temple perched high on a craggy wave-lashed rock and probably the most photographed sight in Bali. Sophisticated Seminyak, a few kilometres south of Canggu, lays claim to the highest concentration of independent fine-dining restaurants on the island, including Sarong, La Lucciola and Ku Dé Ta, together with a wide choice of chic cocktail bars, exciting nightclubs, lavish spas and elegant boutiques.
About Bali Bali is Indonesia's most popular tourist location and is considered one of Asia's premier tropical island destinations. Steeped in history and renowned for its artistic way of life, Bali is a peaceful contrast to some of the more frantic destinations Asia has to offer. The inner peace and creative talents of the Balinese has attracted artists the world over fascinated by local dancers, silversmiths, wood carvers, potters and painters that seem to pervade throughout the island. The abundant verdant fields and surrounding sea have long supplied Bali with an easy surplus of food leaving time for life's more artistic past times. As a result everything in Bali has a creative and religious element centred around the local Banjar (residents association) – little, adorned temples are everywhere, doors are covered in intricate carvings, huge kites ward off evil spirits and colourful roadside ceremonies bring traffic to a standstill. Bali is a popular destination principally from Australia and Asia but also from all over Europe. The island welcomes thousands of visitors each year to a relaxing lifestyle, stunning beaches, world class surf, vibrant villages, and spectacular scenery all with an exquisite tropical climate. Located approximately two hours' flying time from Singapore the island is serviced by an international airport at Denpasar with direct flights to and from many major cities in Asia, Europe and Australia and many more via Jakarta, Indonesia's capital. The island offers an impressive range of leisure and lifestyle amenities including world-class golf courses, wonderful seascapes for surfing, diving and snorkelling as well as luxurious spas, chic boutiques, tropical forests, towering volcanoes and international cuisine.
Villa Kedidi blends traditional Balinese architecture with modern comfort across its four separate structures. The poolside balé contains a large daybed under an alang-alang roof. At either ends of the pool, larger alang-alang roofed pavilions are home to two guest bedrooms while the main pavilion houses the kitchen, living and dining area, bathroom and master bedroom.
Antique furniture and carvings are tastefully arranged throughout, including a cabinet in the living area hiding a TV, with satellite channels and DVD player, along with a stereo system. In the dining area a glass-top table (seats 6) shares the garden view with a cluster of antique wooden sofas. Traditional Balinese doors complement carved ornaments and lead into the kitchen and the bathroom, whilst an interesting fortress-style door leads into the master bedroom – conjuring images of Golconda. The kitchen, which is tucked out of the way, has been recently renovated with new facilities and appliances throughout.
The master bedroom’s four-poster queen bed looks out through patio doors onto a veranda with water feature and antique lounger. The bedroom is air conditioned and equipped with a small stereo. The bathroom, with its open-air shower, doubles as a guest washroom and is situated just outside the grand carved doors from the living area.
The two guest bedrooms are mirror images of each other. From their verandas you can literally jump into the swimming pool. Inside, one has twin beds pushed together whilst the other boasts a queen-size antique four-poster bed, plus a television and DVD player (absent from the other bedrooms). Both bedrooms are air conditioned and well decorated with interesting old Indonesian pictures and occasional furniture. Traditional Balinese doors lead into open-air ensuites from both bedrooms. Standing showers are found in both, whilst the queen room also boasts a terrazzo bathtub in a pretty fern-adorned courtyard.
Classic, open-air, Balinese living only 200m from the beach.

Villa Kedidi was a fabulous place to stay with a very welcoming, efficient and friendly staff. The meals prepared by the chef were mouth watering and the cleanliness of the rooms was superb. Traffic can be bad into Seminyak but being able to walk to the beach (and the famous echo beach) was a big plus. A wonderful stay for parents, children and grand parents.
