This villa with a view is designed for holiday fun and total relaxation.
There’s a freshness and brightness about Villa Kya that’s quite exhilarating. Despite being situated so obviously high above the ocean waves, the villa almost has the feel of a luxury yacht. We put it down to the gleaming white surfaces, the gently curved design that follows the contours of the hillside, the sail-like roof and, perhaps most of all, the stunningly positioned ‘Moon Terrace’, which rivals the most luxurious of top decks.
There is a tremendous choice of places to relax here. Inside, our top marks went to the breakfast bar in the kitchen – what a great place to sip a coffee and start the day! Outside, it was tougher to chose a winner: On a lounger by the pool? On a bar stool in the pool? Enjoying a quiet read in the shade of the lazing lounge? Sipping a sundowner on the Moon Terrace? They’re all up there, and they all have the most amazing views to boot.
Bedrooms are simply, stylishly and romantically furnished (especially the master) and beds are very comfortable. There may not be acres of space in the guest rooms, but the views through the wide glass doors more than make up for that. The villa only opened for business in August 2012 and everything is new and sparkling. The staff are cheerful and obliging and the owner/managers couldn’t be more helpful. We highly recommend sampling the talented Khun Kiat’s pomelo salad and Thai chicken curry. Delicious!
The pool and pool bar, the Moon Terrace, and the private hilltop position are all highlights at Villa Kya, but wherever you are the ocean views are hard to beat. Should you wish to venture out, there’s an excellent villa compendium packed with great ideas for daytrips and places to eat and shop.
The villa gets lots of sun during the day but, as a result, gets pretty hot. Thank goodness for air-con. It’s not the best place for anyone who has a problem with lots of steps – or for kids under five, but families with older children will be very happy with Kya’s space and facilities.
