3-bedroom Villas in Bali, Indonesia

Bali is Indonesia’s most popular tourist location and is considered one of Asia's premier tropical island destinations. Steeped in history and renowned for its artistic way of life, Bali is a peaceful contrast to some of the more frantic destinations Asia has to offer.

The inner peace and creative talents of the Balinese has attracted artists the world over fascinated by local dancers, silversmiths, wood carvers, potters and painters that seem to pervade throughout the island. The abundant verdant fields and surrounding sea have long supplied Bali with an easy surplus of food leaving time for life’s more artistic past times. As a result everything in Bali has a creative and religious element centred around the local Banjar (residents association) – little, adorned temples are everywhere, doors are covered in intricate carvings, huge kites ward off evil spirits and colourful roadside ceremonies bring traffic to a standstill.

Bali is a popular destination principally from Australia and Asia but also from all over Europe. The island welcomes thousands of visitors each year to a relaxing lifestyle, stunning beaches, world class surf, vibrant villages, and spectacular scenery all with an exquisite tropical climate. Located approximately two hours’ flying time from Singapore the island is serviced by an international airport at Denpasar with direct flights to and from many major cities in Asia, Europe and Australia and many more via Jakarta, Indonesia’s capital.

The island offers an impressive range of leisure and lifestyle amenities including world-class golf courses, wonderful seascapes for surfing, diving and snorkelling as well as luxurious spas, chic boutiques, tropical forests, towering volcanoes and international cuisine.

Villa Adasa

Villa Adasa

Indonesia » Bali » Greater Seminyak » Seminyak

I’m moving in! Put it another way, I don’t want to leave Villa Adasa, ever. Within moments of our arrival, the sounds of the gamelan gave way to early Dylan rasping from the Sonos sound system. How did they KNOW he’s this reviewer’s all-time favourite? Mind-reading was clearly second nature for Villa Adasa’s staff, who seemed to know what we wanted before we did, but were just as adept at giving us complete privacy when that was called for too. While this is a great villa for a family as well as for friends/couples sharing, Villa Adasa manages to achieve a rare intimacy that would make it equally appealing to a couple looking to splurge on space. Villa Adasa delights 24/7. Daytime, we were faced with the taxing decision of whether to dive into an ocean of colourful cushions carpeting the double bale (gazebo), relax on the loungers by the pool, strip to bare essentials on the sun-deck above, or remain supine on the myriad sofas in the living pavilion. At sundown it was no contest; the best place to soak up Bali’s famous purple-hued sunset was from the loveseat on the master bedroom loggia. The night-time atmosphere at Villa Adasa is charming, thanks to its clever ambient lighting and comfortable living area. So dining presented us with an equally weighty dilemma: Do we select from the excellent menu and have our accomplished villa chef whip up a five-course meal or seafood barbecue for us, or do we wander out and take our pick from the many world-class restaurants within moments of the villa? We loved hanging out in the huge master bedroom suite and enjoyed the best night’s sleep thanks to a fabulously comfy bed, luxury goose-down duvet and pillows and high thread-count cotton sateen bed linen. The Sonos music system was swish, and being able to control it from our phone and laptop was pretty cool. And it was heaven having such a wonderful library of coffee table books and glossy magazines to browse. All in all, staying here was like breathing pure oxygen — I was on a permanent health-inducing ‘high’ throughout our all-too-short-stay.

Villa Asada

Villa Asada

Indonesia » Bali » East Coast » Candidasa

Returning to Villa Asada after three years we were really pleased by the way in which it has evolved to become a truly magnificent family holiday villa with stunning views over the spectacular Amuk Bay. Since our original visit, the property has changed hands and undergone an extensive upgrade, with an enormous amount of thought put into the provision of guest needs in the form of deep comfort and some great new facilities (including a poolside bar, and a gym).  The Asian food we had was excellent (best satay sauce ever!) – do note though that the villa is a good hour away from major provisioning so whilst local food can be provided at relatively short notice, more complex meals need a little more planning. As such there is a restaurant style house menu and an advanced order menu where 24 hours notice is requested. The chef (included) will help out with all your meal planning though.

Villa Asante

Villa Asante

Indonesia » Bali » Canggu area » Canggu

Architecturally simple yet eminently comfortable, Villa Asante makes a great holiday pad for a couple of families. The layout is very practical, especially the open sided common areas which flow so well to the pool. It is commendable that the owners have resisted the temptation to build a mega-villa on what is quite a big plot – resulting in much more open space to relax and for kids to run around in. The pool is superb, with shallow sections for toddlers and practical decking which is not slippery even with wet feet (unlike the terrazzo floors). It could do with a little more shade although there are sun umbrellas and a very pleasant balé. Bedrooms are practical and comfortable too, and the bathrooms really are very good, especially the downstairs ones with outside showers and walled gardens. On a recent re-visit we found the (now much more experienced) staff to be superb and the food conjured up by the chef to be tasty, if a little pricey.

Bayu Gita Residence

Bayu Gita Residence

Indonesia » Bali » East Coast » Ketewel

We wanted for nothing at Bayu Gita Residence.  The villa blends all the charms and appeal of a contemporary beach house with the stylish luxury of Bali villa living.  Thoughtful design, graceful Balinese aesthetics, natural building materials, the friendliest of welcomes, and what seems like great feng shui, all conspire to create an atmosphere that is warm and inviting, and we felt right at home from the moment we walked in.  While the design itself is delightfully simple and unpretentious, the luxury is in the details, and it is abundantly clear that no expense has been spared in creating this tasteful abode.  Interiors are refreshingly uncluttered – decoration seem unnecessary when the lavish finishing’s of the villa are themselves a work of art; from richly-hued dark timber latticed panels and highly detailed stone work, to delicately beaded cushions, swishing burgundy drapes and gorgeous framed textiles.  The beautiful white flowers that dangle from the vine-covered trellis on the patio add a touch of whimsy.

While the property is not huge, the space had been wonderfully utilised, and the open design makes it feel really fresh and spacious, especially with the sun streaming into the garden and all the doors thrown open to the sea breeze.  Expansive views from the upper floor, with tantalising glimpses of the sea, add to the sense of space.

There’s no doubt that, when rented in conjunction with its big sister, six-bedroomed Villa Bayu Gita, Bayu Gita Residence would make a wonderful and very memorable beachside wedding venue.

Bendega Rato

Bendega Rato

Indonesia » Bali » Canggu area » Canggu

Sipping a cold glass of something while watching a spectacular Bali sunset from the roof-garden balé at Bendega Rato is a memorable experience in itself. And the experience is enhanced by the super-comfortable beds, bold fabrics, tasteful pieces of art and furniture, impressive sound system and blissful swimming pool – all indicative of the care and thought Bendega Villas’ owners have put into their their tropical holiday home.

There is no shortage of places to relax here, from the roof-garden to the convivial pool pavilion, to the upstairs bedroom balconies with their lovely views. And for those who’d rather retreat indoors to the media room there’s a vast choice of movies and music to be enjoyed on the 55-inch plasma screen with Apple TV and a blue-ray DVD player, or on the integrated Sonos sound system.

Although there is an ever-growing selection of restaurants and cafes within walking distance of the villa, we felt no desire to eat out after sampling Chef Dewa's culinary delights: from pizza cooked to order in the wood-burning brick oven, to roast vegetable salad, chicken curry, cheesecake and crème brulée – everything was beautifully presented, absolutely delicious, and served with a smile. While Bendega Rato comes across as quite a grown-up villa, there’s still something to please everyone in the family and, with the option of renting the adjoining one bedroom pavilion, or even sister villa, 5-bedroom Bendega Nui, it also becomes a great place for a big group of friends to get together, or a terrific wedding venue.

Casa Brio

Casa Brio

Indonesia » Bali » Greater Seminyak » Seminyak

Casa Brio was a delightful surprise — everything was so much bigger and better than we anticipated; the photos really don’t do it justice.

We were particularly impressed with manager Pak Yusa and his staff, who made sure we wanted for nothing during our stay from the moment they welcomed us with an ice-cold towel and fresh juice. A special shout out to Wayan the villa chef whose culinary skills ensured we never dined out (even though our old-time favourite, La Lucciola was only a five-minute stroll away). My taste buds still tingle at the thought of his delicately flavoured pomelo and chicken salad, and beautifully presented mahi mahi steaks.

This feels very much like a ‘grown up’ villa — we can easily imagine elegant dinner parties and special family celebrations, and think it’s a great villa for friends to share. Families with toddlers might be concerned about the open staircase and rooftop terrace (not to mention sticky fingers all over the handsome upholstered furniture). But the staff enjoy welcoming children, can supply a pool fence on request, and there’s a large shallow pool area for young ones to enjoy.

Dea Villas - Villa Amy

Dea Villas - Villa Amy

Indonesia » Bali » Canggu area » Canggu

What the owners have done with the space at Villa Amy is incredible; so much has been fitted into the villa without overcrowding it. We don’t think we have ever before encountered such a large master bedroom, complete with huge hardwood beams stretching all the way to the lofty ceiling, polished floors, antiques, sitting areas and sliding glass doors leading out to a fish pond which appears to cascade into the swimming pool below. We felt a bit spoiled to be honest. An even greater feeling of space is conveyed by the clever use of wooden louvre shutters in the garden walls: lying beside the pool looking at views of the green swaying rice while cooling breezes drift through the shutters was pure bliss. Speaking of the pool, its low position means that when swimming or sun bathing you can’t help but look up and be mightily impressed by the architecture of the master bedroom. A beautiful place to simply chill!

Des Indes II

Des Indes II

Indonesia » Bali » Greater Seminyak » Seminyak

Des Indes Villa II is a hidden gem!  From the moment the bright red iron-studded entrance door swung open to reveal a row of saffron-robed stone-carved monks standing sentinel across the entrance pond, we were enchanted.  The clever layout makes the most of the space – land is at a premium in this uber-elite part of Seminyak, and we liked the way both (surprisingly large) bedroom suites were separated by the swimming pool, giving extra privacy.  The owners have a fine eye for Asian antiques and artefacts, and we loved the blend of heritage romance and modern luxury… where else can you take a bath surrounded by Chinese porcelain and Asian artefacts!

Favourite places to hang out? The huge four-poster bed swathed in mosquito netting, and the elegant marble-topped breakfast table by the pool. The staff greeted us with garlands of Frangipani flowers and refreshing ice-cold towels, and a special mention must go to the chef; his beautifully cooked Barramundi dinner made me so happy we chose to eat in rather than stroll down to La Lucciola!  We were one couple staying, and think this would be a rather lovely honeymoon spot; but imagine two couples or a family with two kids would be equally happy here.

Villa Kedidi

Villa Kedidi

Indonesia » Bali » Canggu area » Canggu

Villa Kedidi is a little Balinese gem, a breezy, traditional residence in the heart of Canggu. We were a group of friends looking to enjoy Bali’s clubs and nightlife and the location was absolutely ideal. After late nights, mornings were idyllic, laying on sun loungers in the small, private garden, surrounded by palm and frangipani trees. Come evening and the candles around the garden lit by the staff made for a very romantic backdrop whilst dining or lounging in the main building. Kedidi is more compact than Villa Kakatua, its four-bedroomed sister next door, but hiring both villas (they share staff and a management office) would give you enough room to comfortably sleep 14 adults.. We found the staff very attentive and professional, and it’s very convenient having a car and driver available at a reasonable price, as driving in Bali takes some getting used to!

We love staying in Canggu. It’s rapidly becoming one of the most popular areas in Bali, yet it retains a rural charm and there are still a few fields and rice paddies to be found in between the villas. Canggu also offers quaint and varied dining spots along with a rugged surf beach. Taking into account its wonderful location and authentic Balinese ambiance, we think Villa Kedidi offers very good value for money.

The Layar - Villa 7 (3BR)

The Layar - Villa 7 (3BR)

Indonesia » Bali » Greater Seminyak » Seminyak

We’d done our research and thought we had realistic notions about where we were going, but The Layar surpassed all our expectations.  The villas’ design works on so many levels:  it’s intriguingly different and totally tropical, but what we hadn’t anticipated was just how ‘at home’ we would feel as soon as we crossed the stepping stones into the gorgeous garden and saw the sweep of roof, from under which the living and dining areas beckoned.

The villas are well equipped with satellite channel TVs, sound systems and a good range of kitchen utensils (in the unlikely event that you might chose to self-cater), while bedrooms and bathrooms – all of which are generously sized – are fitted with quality furnishings and adorned with interesting Indonesian art and artefacts.

And there’s plenty to keep all ages and interests entertained.  The gardens, furnished decks, pools and (in all but the one-bed villas) jacuzzis, coupled with TV areas, lounge and dining spaces will be enough for some, but lazy days can be punctuated with in-villa spa treatments carried out by The Layar’s professional therapists and delicious barbecue dinners cooked in the gardens of your own private oasis.  When we did finally tear ourselves away from our new ‘home’ we enjoyed venturing out to explore the shops, restaurants and cafes of Seminyak, all of which were easy to reach on foot.  Cocktails on the beach at La Lucciola, followed by an excellent dinner at ‘The Junction’ made a great end to the day.
