Goa Gajah (Elephant Cave) Bedahulu

Carved into a hillside is a cave guarded by the monsterous face of Boma, a divine being. Enter his mouth to find a dark T-shaped cave. Inside is a statue of the Hindu god Ganesha and a number of lingams.

Pura Penataran Sasih Pejeng (temple)

The chief attraction at this temple is the large bronze drum known as the Moon of Pejeng. It is 3m long and 1.6m in diameter, shaped like an hourglass, and incised on the surface in style of the bronze age Dongson culture of northern Vietnam.

Gunung Kawi (temples)

This is a series of ten temples carved into the rock walls that line the banks of the Pakrisan river. The site is sculpture on an impressive scale, unusual in that they are without adornment. The temples date from the 11th century and are believed to be funerary monuments to Balinese kings.

Dedicated to the cultivation of rice, the mainstay of Tabanan’s economy, this museum has well documented displays of agricultural tools that trace the history and process of rice from paddy field to kitchen. Ask to see the adjacent traditional Balinese house with a lumbug (rice storehouse).
