Baan Fan Noi
Thailand » Koh Samui » Chaweng
The villa’s elevated position meant we enjoyed views of not only the bay between Chaweng and Choeng Mon, but also the tiny island of Koh Matlang in the distance and the airport to the other side. Rather than being a disturbance, we found it fascinating watching the airplanes taking off and landing, with only minor noise disturbance as the villa is well to the side of the flight path.
The bedrooms are exceptionally comfortable, with down bedding, silent air-conditioning and subdued lighting. Leaving the blinds open at night meant we could see the lights twinkling along the coast below and could even enjoy a firework show being staged at Chaweng Beach. It also meant waking early to a beautiful sunrise. If you’d prefer to sleep in, you can of course draw the blinds – the aroma of coffee brewing will wake you up in time for breakfast, so no need to set your alarm. The fresh air made us hungry, so we enjoyed our continental breakfast, including a platter of tropical fruit, as a perfect way to start the day. From the breakfast table, we watched yachts and fishing boats coming and going and the island starting its day, knowing we had nothing much planned, other than another relaxing day at the elegant Baan Fan Noi.
