The Experience
Relaxation at a beachside location is what Villa Canggu North is all about. With the beach less than 200 metres away, the sound of the waves and the ocean breezes will soothe and cool you on even the hottest of days. 'Pantai Nelayan', which means 'Fisherman's Beach' presents a glimpse into the working lives of Bali's fishing community. The fisherman actually trade some of their catch on Nelayan Beach, which means you can expect some super-fresh seafood barbecues expertly prepared for you by the villa staff. Located on the fringes of a small, traditional village, the villa is ideal for those who wish to escape from city life. You can walk along the beach for miles and watch the surfers riding the waves. Or maybe surfing is your thing, in which case you are in the perfect place.
The owners of the villa are passionate about art, and have filled their home with an incredible and varied collection of artwork, which wouldn't look out of place in a top gallery. The work by acclaimed Indonesian artists ranges from futuristic wall murals in the two bedrooms, to an extraordinary suspended sculpture of a steam ship and a mysterious interpretation of the heritage of the Mayan people. Much of the artwork is displayed in the spacious open-plan living and dining area, which opens up to the private swimming pool.
The property is well suited for two couples or a small family, with plentiful facilities and a professional team of staff including a delightful manager, butlers, a security team, and your own private chef, who will prepare delicious meals of Western, Asian, and vegetarian cuisine including children's dishes (on guests account). Requests will be willingly accommodated, including special diets, seafood feasts and barbecues. The self-contained Villa Canggu North is adjoined by the four-bedroom Villa Canggu South, offering guests a six-bedroom renting option if required.

A neat Canggu hideaway, just moments from a top surf beach.
Our inspection revealed that Villa Canggu North would be a great choice for a small family or four friends who want to escape from the hustle and bustle of Seminyak. The pool and its deck is an extension of the large living and dining room, which can be alternatively be closed off for air-conditioned comfort. The beach is not a great swimming beach – this is a coast surfing Mecca – so do take care. It is fascinating, however, watching the local community at work. The boat sculpture in the living space is a work of art, not a toy, so if you have young children you will need to keep little fingers in check!

Highlights
We were fascinated by the extraordinary art on display at Villa Canggu North, and very impressed by the staff too.
Surprises
Our only disappointment was that there is no sea view. While private and self-contained, Villa Canggu North is situated in the grounds of Villa Canggu South, so it may not be quite so peaceful if guests are in residence there at the same time.

It s our first time in Bali and Villa Canggu helped this dream come true better than we imagined.
Lanang, Gede, Made and Putu are very knowledgeable about culture and activities all over the island.
They were flexible and attentive, always one step ahead to fulfill our needs. The Chef also made every meal a delicious event to remember. We will take the lovely people from the villa in our hearts.

Thank you for making our vacation one to remember. The Staff made our stay one of food, fun and adventure. Everyday we experienced a new location, from waterfall, quad bikes, swings, tattoos and of course romantic candlelit dinner with music and sunset that we will cherish. The location was perfect as we were walking distance to what we needed. The pool was great and we spent a lot of time there with music in our ears and a cold Bintang in hand. The home is just a home, but the staff made it special. The staff of the house really set this place a part from other villas we had stayed in before. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our stay in Bali Magical. We are looking forward to a return stay.

We stayed at Villa Canggu for our son's wedding next door. The staff was fantastic and the service was incredible. Lanang and the rest of the staff was very pleasant and helpful. We would definitely be back.

Villa Canggu rests in the village of Nelayan in the sleepy, yet increasingly popular, district of Canggu about three kilometres from the main Canggu Road. The rolling surf of Echo Beach (Batu Mejan) is just a five-minute drive or a 20-minute walk along the seashore, and this is where you will find a a good choice of local restaurants including Skallywags, which serves a daily barbecue. About Canggu
Canggu is fast evolving into Bali's hippest area, its beaches renowned for spectacular sunsets and heady surf. Jalan Pantai Batu Balong is lined with cool bars, cosy coffee shops, and varied dining options offering everything from French pastries to tapas, burgers and vegetarian fare. A holiday in Canggu invariably spells spending a lot of time at Echo Beach where a good choice of restaurants and cafes such as The Beach House await, with daily barbecues and live music on Sundays. Known for its nightlife, other vibrant music venues in the vicinity include Old Man’s and Deus Ex Machina. Local boutiques and spas keep you busy, competing with neighbouring Seminyak just a few kilometres further east.
Here, amongst the rice fields which extend all the way down to the beach, you will not only find some of the most luxurious private residences on the island, but also several eclectic restaurants, cafes, bakeries, boutiques and beach bars. Well known in surfing circles, Canggu boasts reef swells larger than the ones found further south in Kuta and Seminyak. Swimming isn’t advisable however as the rips can be dangerous, but there are plenty of other things to do in Canggu from horseback riding to cooking classes. A visit to Finns Recreation Club is a must for families (several elite havens in the area include guest access) and further north lies the sea temple of Pura Tanah Lot, a great day trip for the entire group.
About Bali

Located approximately two hours’ flying time from Singapore the island is serviced by an international airport at Denpasar with direct flights to and from many major cities in Asia, Europe and Australia and many more via Jakarta, Indonesia’s capital.

Rooms
The two-storey villa comprises two air-conditioned bedrooms, a large L-shaped living and dining space incorporating a small guest kitchen, as well as a private 8-metre swimming pool bordered by a timber sun deck furnished with loungers and umbrellas and surrounded by a retractable garden wall.
Located upstairs, the bedrooms (both furnished with king-size beds that can be converted to twins) are equipped with 21-inch satellite-channel TVs, DVD players, iPod docks and a safety deposit boxes, and each is adjoined by its own private bathroom fitted with a rainshower. These rooms are decorated with striking hand-painted murals, and are interconnected, making the villa a perfect choice for a family with younger kids.
The L-shaped living and dining room is furnished at one end with a table for six next to a small, integrated guest kitchen (a professional staff service kitchen is situated in the adjoining building). At the other end of the living and dining room is a comfy sitting area with sofas arranged around a TV and DVD player. This room is completed with some funky lamps, and some captivating artwork, including a huge suspended installation of a flying steam ship, complete with moving parts. Sliding glass doors lead from here to the sundeck and pool.
When Villa Canggu North is rented in conjunction with Villa Canggu South, the garden can be opened up to create a luxurious space with two pools, two living and dining rooms and interconnecting doors.
