The resort is crafted in dazzling, creamy-white, coralline limestone – a stark contrast against the intense blue of the Balinese sky. Interlocking patterns within the random rock walls portray a honeycombed jigsaw of shapes, punctuated by romantic hidden archways and south-facing portals revealing an ever-compelling vista of the ocean waves.

Villa Grand Cliff Ungasan is situated on Bali’s Bukit Peninsula, on the southernmost extremity of the island. Bukit means hill in the Indonesian language, and the coastline of this limestone tableland is characterised by steep sea-cliffs, jaw-dropping views, world-famous surf breaks, and golden sand beaches. As the name suggests, the villa is perched on one of these cliffs. The sea here is ringed by a coral reef making it safe for swimming at high tide and offering hours of fun at low tide in a sheltered lagoon, which is suitable for kayaking and ideal for reef-combing.  A second beach club is located next door to the resort and offers live music at weekends. Beaches such as Green Bowl and Pandawa are close as the crow flies but 5km and 8km respectively by car along narrow winding lanes. Likewise, the exquisite Ju-Ma-Na Restaurant at Banyan Tree Resort, which looks very close on the map is actually 4.5km by road, but it’s possibly the best restaurant on the island so it’s well worth the journey! 

Despite its stunning, away-from-it-all, oceanfront location, Villa Grand Cliff Ungasan is only a 45-minute drive from Bali’s international airport.

About The Bukit
The Bukit (which means 'hill' in Indonesian) is a 140-square-kilometre rugged limestone peninsula that dangles like a pendant upon a chain at the southern tip of Bali. This windswept outcrop is revered by the Balinese who have built a series of temples around its perimeter, including the spectacular Pura Luhur Uluwatu. Until recently, it was home to seaweed farmers, fishermen and professional surfers. Here, a large, glass-fronted living and dining room opens onto a sheltered terrace, the 20m swimming pool and a pool deck furnished with sunbeds, against the backdrop of a glorious ocean view. A dining table for 12 dominates one side of the room, and is perfect for a social dinner in the comfort of the air-conditioned interior. Alternatively, you can dine under the stars on the breezy pool terrace where another table for 12 beckons. This multi-function indoor and outdoor space is wired for sound with top-quality indoor and outdoor speakers.  Back indoors, the living area features a bar flanked by high chairs. Also in this area is a comfy segmented sofa positioned around a large international-channel TV and Blu-ray player. 

On the upper floor, each of the two master suites is equipped with a TV, a walk-through dressing room, and an office area with a desk. Ocean-ogling views can be enjoyed from the king-size beds and the private balconies. Each master is adjoined by a stylish bathroom with a tub and rain shower. Next to one of these suites is a sitting area and a queen-size bedroom with a TV, private bathroom with rain shower and private balcony; this room is ideal for children but also suitable for a couple. Guests can also enjoy the facility of a billiard table on the upper floor atrium.

The sleeping arrangements on the lower floor also work well for families. Of the two rooms on this floor, one is furnished with a queen-size bed and the other with twin beds. Each has an ensuite bathroom with a rain shower. The twin bedroom is equipped with a TV, while guests in the queen-bedded room can enjoy the extravagance of the adjacent cinema room as well as being able to step directly into the alfresco jacuzzi tub on the timber deck outside. An extension of this deck is furnished with sunbeds next to a large relaxation gazebo with cushioned seating.

Also on the lower floor is a home cinema with La-Z-Boy reclining chairs, soundproofed walls and a bar table. It is equipped with surround sound; a Nintendo Wii; a Blu-ray DVD player, international TV channels, and a huge projector screen.
