The Experience
Villa Mandalay is a blissful seven-bedroom rural retreat (four and six bedroom rental options also available), yet it’s only a 10-minute drive from Canggu, Bali’s favourite new hang-out spot, brimming with cool cafés and bustling beach bars.
From its standpoint on an elevated salient of land, the views of the garden, the countryside, the distant ocean and the Bukit Peninsula are truly magnificent, with rice fields extending from the edge of the property all the way down to the sea and stretching almost as far on either side, offering not so much a glimpse, but a full-throttle trip down the Bali agricultural highway.
The grand hall and six of the bedrooms are on ground level in a U-shape surrounding a 25m pool. This tempting stretch of water forms the nucleus of the property, flowing towards an alfresco lounging and dining deck under a rustic bamboo canopy, flanked by mirrored fish ponds, and enveloped by cool breezes. Descend to a lower level and practice your golf strokes on a six-hole putting green or escape with your thoughts into a balé bengong ‘dreaming pavilion’ in a far corner of the garden. The seventh bedroom is also tucked away down here. Alternatively, indulge in the warmth and chill of a hidden sauna and plunge pool or relax in the air-conditioned home theatre.
Mandalay must be one of the quietest villas in Bali, stunningly illuminated after sunset by three fire bowls, which frame the pool, bringing a primal energy to the nightscape. Down-lighting inside the house keeps this atmosphere alive, while off into the distance a big river of darkness is punctuated by a scattering of village lights and the glow of fishing boats on the horizon.
A walk through the villa’s interior reveals colour, whimsy, and a series of striking canvasses and wooden statues from Kalimantan, showcasing the avian pantheon of the archipelago from cockatoos to birds of paradise, alongside Hindu deities and Buddha carvings to remind you of where you are in the world. But with such serene views, together with the wonderfully-friendly and diligent Balinese staff, how could you possibly forget!
Villa Mandalay is ideal for families and large groups of friends, with the attentive services of 24-hour butlers and an excellent chef (provisions on guest account plus 20% handling fee which is subject to service charge and government tax).

A blissful seven-bedroom retreat with knee-buckling views
We’ve never seen a villa with its own pitch and putt golf range before and thought it was a tremendous addition for family fun or for allowing golfers to iron out glitches before parting with the huge green fees for the 18-hole course New Kuta Golf Club (34km).
We loved the fact that nearly all the rooms in the villa are on one level, making it very social, accessible and appropriate for all ages. And all of the bedrooms (with the exception of the lower studio room - which is slightly smaller - but very private) are very similar and won't be the cause of any group envy.
We lazed away the latter part of the day on comfy couches shaded by the funky bamboo roof of the elevated open-air living and dining deck by the pool. From here we observed the farmers ploughing and flooding the rice terraces in preparation for planting. The staff were diligently on hand with offers of snacks and drink refills to refresh us throughout these exhausting people-watching activities. Highlights
The rice field views all the way down to the ocean, two kilometres away, are outstanding, both by night and by day. The 61-inch high definition TV in the home theatre and an exceptional library of movies also makes for a great night in, while our early morning breakfast in the gazebo overlooking the green fields was simply beautiful.
Surprises
A grand villa requires a grand seating area and this is something that Villa Mandalay doesn't quite manage to deliver. Opting for symmetry rather than size, an opportunity for a major focal point has been wasted in favour of two smaller – tho’ very comfortable – sitting areas either side of the dining hall. The home theatre could do with some chairs in addition to the large mats and cushion arrangement, which might be difficult for those whose joints are a little creaky.

Lovely hospitality at Villa Mandalay. Just nice for big family. Love the room, the pool, the butlers and Indomie Goreng cook by butlers!

Had a fabulous time with friends 20th year reunion. The hosts were very courteous, accommodating and looked after all our needs really well.

The villa is stunning. The decoration and facilities are amazing and we have enjoyed every single second of it. And this great time was also mainly because of the incredible friendly, hard work and impeccable staff. The staff are helpful and friendly. Take care of us in an outstanding way. The food was delicious, the place always clean and organized, and the staff was always smiling.

Hosting my retreat for clients of my VIP program at the gorgeous villa was the best decision. The chef was brilliant delivering to us delicious dishes every day. The property is amazing and everyone felt like their room was a private sanctuary. What is amazing about the villa is that you are so close to the street yet feel so far as if you are in the peaceful, blissful countryside. Villa Mandalay is a great Balinese sanctuary. Thank you to Manager Suka and the team for making sure our stay and needs were always met with wonderful hospitality.

Suka and the rest of the staff at Mandalay were been fantastic since we arrived at their front door. Every detail was handled meticulously and timely. We had a fantastic wedding here and all our guests expressed at how great the service and facilities were. It was truly a marvelous experience. We do not have a single complaint. All of you at Mandalay truly went above and beyond and made it possible for us to have these awesome moments which we will be cherishing for the rest of our lives.

We had a beautiful stay at villa Mandalay. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and the service was excellent . Excellent stay. Overall a very pleasant experience with wonderful service from the house staff. The outdoor dining is great for lunch. The kids had a great time at the mini golf course.

We will all miss our Bali boys. The boys service could not have been better. They were very helpful with every single thing. We always woke up to smiling faces from the Mandalay crew and it made our trip a lot better and happier. They were so friendly and become our friend more than our helpers. We learnt a lot from them and they taught us about their culture, which I believe we wouldn't have learnt if it wasn't due to them.

We came to Bali for our son's wedding - groom's family. We stayed in Villa Mandalay. It was a beautiful experience for everyone. Everything from staff to facility and convenience was beyond words. Only regret in a way was we were not able to enjoy the villa as much as we could have since we had wedding events in other venues everyday. Big thank you to entire Villa Mandalay staff. We will be sure to come back someday again.

Villa Mandalay was everything it promised to be. From the moment we booked until our departure, all the employees at Mandalay were extremely helpful and welcoming. The arrangement for check in was very smooth and the Manager - Suka, Heri and all staff members were easily contactable and were quick to offer their assistance. The Chef - Alit was superb and accommodated to all our dietary requirements. Villa Mandalay was tidy, comfortable and very spacious. Our pool was absolutely surreal, made the stay relaxing. We were a bit far from most activities, however it was very peaceful and I would definitely recommend this villa to others.

We stayed at Mandalay villa for 10 days to celebrate our family reunion. We were welcomed by the owner who made us feel welcomed and introduced us to the villa staff. Led by Suka (manager) we have had the most relaxing and enjoyable stay here. They have been very friendly and ensured we had everything to ensure we made the most of our time in Bali. From cooked meals to organized transport to and from villa, all have been facilitated without a hassle. As a compliment to Chef Alit, our family stayed in the whole week to enjoy the wonderful spread prepared. Thank you Suka and team for your great hospitality and we will definitely recommend Mandalay Villa and will hopefully come back soon.

Wonderful location, fantastic villa, welcoming and friendly staff. Love, love loved our experience here. Amazing experience here at Mandalay. Best Sangria EVER! Great location, very relaxing, amazing staff. Great facilities and service and amazing food! We feel so spoilt. Beautiful villa, great location, well maintained. Heri, Alit, Edy and Suka were fantastic, friendly and readily available. Traditional cooking available at the villa was great. Suka was very attentive and accommodating.

From the moment we arrived, this has been the most wonderful vacation my family has been on. The drivers at the airport were very helpful and kind. When we arrived at villa, the greeting and drinks were both amazing, the villa is gorgeous! Amazingly clean, the ground are amazing, the ponds, the pool, the room, the bar and the golf! The very best part was the staff, everyone was kind, helpful and great to be around. The meals we had were better than fine dinning restaurants. Watching our children enjoy the villa and the memories we made with friends will be cherished forever. Thank you.

Lovely stay in Villa Mandalay. Food, view, service, pool and atmosphere - everything around here was perfect. All the guests include myself enjoyed every aspect of Villa Mandalay. It was great choice to do a wedding in Bali, especially here in Villa Mandalay. The memory of Bali will be always wonderful because of this place. Fifteen family members descended on this villa to celebrate a significant birthday in the family. We have all relaxed immensley, and most importantly been well taken care by all of the staff here at Villa Mandalay. Nothing was too much trouble, they were always available to give advice as we needed it. The food was delicious and tasty, especially the local Indonesian dishes. We hope to be back at some stage to repeat the experience. Thank you all of the lovely staff!!

Our stay at Villa Mandalay has been 5 star on all accounts. The staff were very friendly and relaxed providing a great service, making this holiday even more enjoyable. Our compliments to the Chef, as the food was fantastic. The facilities such as the chipping green and the sauna were second to none. Having spent many years in Bali, Villa Mandalay is unique and we all felt very at home.

We are a family of 18, ranging from 1,5 years old to 70 years old. All of us love the stay at Villa Mandalay. Everyone from Suka, Heri, Chef and the gang took very good care of us. Overall the villa is comfortable, spacious, tranquil and the highlight is actually the 25m pool. We will definitely come back again.

The food was nice and suit our liking. Friendly, efficient staff. The villa is well maintained, the swimming pool was definitely the central attraction, the view is simply breathtaking, like paradise on earth, especially for urban people like us. My family and I came to Villa Mandalay to celebrate my 40th Birthday. We are group of 10 adults and 6 young children. We had the most wonderful time. The villa was stunning, we love the vista overlooking the rice paddies and the beautiful pool. The staff were super friendly and helped us with anything we need, even a six year old's pink birthday cake. The food was delicious, both for kids and adults. We will definitely be back!

We stay at villa Mandalay for 10 days in September. We had 6 adults and 6 children age 1-6 years. The villa was beautiful as expected. Great holidays at Villa Mandalay. Manager Suka was always present and he gets 10 out of 10

It's the first time for me to arrange a trip with 3 families, 14 of us. Thank goodness i found Elite Havens! Prompt response, good recommendation & advise and detailed! We stayed in Mandalay for 5 nights. The attendants are so polite, attentive and made us feel so welcome! They ensured we had a comfortable stay with a clean environment! Accommodating all our requests. Mr Suka, someone that i must really compliment! He had made all our activities arrangements according to our requirements, request, and giving appropriate advises. The villa size is just right for us and the pool is huge! The 8 children had so much fun! Looking out at the padi field from the terrace every morning brighten up my days! The only negative feedback is on the 7th bedroom. It's the furthest room from the hall with too much excess of privacy. None of us stay in that room throughout.

Location
Villa Mandalay lies on the edge of the tiny traditional Balinese village of Munggu, just a couple of kilometres north of Seseh Beach and the spectacular Tanah Lot sea temple. Wandering around here with your camera will surely provide some gorgeous images of local life. About Seseh-Tanah Lot
A few kilometres north-west of Canggu, a towering banyan, sacred in many cultures, heralds the turning towards Seseh, a traditional beachside village approached via an avenue of coconut palms.
Seseh and its tiny neighbouring villages of Sogsogan and Cemagi still retain the customs and culture of old Bali. Here, you will see farmers in conical hats riding rusty old upright bicycles, as well as frequent, colourful processions leading to Seseh’s large beachside temple. You might just see a barong (a high-spirited, benevolent beast representing the power of good; danced by two men inside an ornate costume) dancing on the street. The good news, for folks who want to immerse themselves in the customs and culture of old Bali, is that the villagers encourage and welcome congenial visitors.
Although you can now find a few private rental villas in these three villages, they have seamlessly integrated without detracting from the simplicity and charm of the location. This is an ideal destination for those who want to get lost in the beauty of the countryside, and for those who want to engage with the local people and gain privileged insights into the Balinese Hindu lifestyle.
A little further up the coast is Tanah Lot, famous for its dramatic and venerated sea temple, which is perched on a craggy wave-lashed rock at the edge of the glistening black shoreline. It is probably the most photographed sight in Bali, especially in the late afternoon when its splendid profile is silhouetted against the setting sun. One of the top things to do in the Seseh-Tanah Lot area is to tee off at the 18-hole, 72-par, championship-standard Nirwana Bali Golf Club, frequently voted as the number one golf course in Asia. This, however, still remains a remote area with few facilities other than the souvenir stalls and simple eateries within the temple grounds, and three international restaurants within Pan Pacific Nirwana Bali Resort.
About Bali
Bali is Indonesia’s most popular tourist location and is considered one of Asia's premier tropical island destinations. Steeped in history and renowned for its artistic way of life, Bali is a peaceful contrast to some of the more frantic destinations Asia has to offer.
The inner peace and creative talents of the Balinese has attracted artists the world over fascinated by local dancers, silversmiths, wood carvers, potters and painters that seem to pervade throughout the island. The abundant verdant fields and surrounding sea have long supplied Bali with an easy surplus of food leaving time for life’s more artistic past times. As a result everything in Bali has a creative and religious element centred around the local Banjar (residents association) – little, adorned temples are everywhere, doors are covered in intricate carvings, huge kites ward off evil spirits and colourful roadside ceremonies bring traffic to a standstill.
Bali is a popular destination principally from Australia and Asia but also from all over Europe. The island welcomes thousands of visitors each year to a relaxing lifestyle, stunning beaches, world class surf, vibrant villages, and spectacular scenery all with an exquisite tropical climate. Located approximately two hours’ flying time from Singapore the island is serviced by an international airport at Denpasar with direct flights to and from many major cities in Asia, Europe and Australia and many more via Jakarta, Indonesia’s capital.
The island offers an impressive range of leisure and lifestyle amenities including world-class golf courses, wonderful seascapes for surfing, diving and snorkelling as well as luxurious spas, chic boutiques, tropical forests, towering volcanoes and international cuisine.
Rooms
Built around a timber-decked 25m lap pool, the symmetrical Villa Mandalay, with its creamy-white Palamanan stone walls, comprises three buildings plus a remarkable bamboo gazebo, which shelters an open-air living and dining deck furnished with sofas, chairs and a table for 12. From here, the spectacular rural panorama is unobstructed. The buildings and the pool are elevated above a large ‘pitch and putt’ green, complete with a balé relaxation pavilion. Hidden on a lower level is the seventh, studio-style bedroom with king-size bed and private terrace, a sauna with glorious views and a small plunge pool.
Two master bedrooms are situated on either side of the main pavilion with glass doors opening to raised wooden decks, while four more bedrooms are positioned in pairs on either side of pool. In line with the symmetrical design of the villa, each bedroom within each pair is a mirror image of the other. All are the same layout, with air conditioning, timber floors, satellite-channel TVs and king-size beds; the masters are just a bit bigger with larger TVs. The two bedrooms at the front are blessed with lovely views, and have window seats positioned to make the most of them. All ensuite bathrooms have double washbasins and walk-in monsoon showers, while the two masters offer the additional treat of a soaking tub.
The main pavilion houses a splendid dining hall, open to the pool deck, with two matching glass-topped dining tables, seating up to 16. A bar at the back,furnished with four stools, is set against a red backdrop with shelf units displaying local artefacts. Wings on either side of the dining space incorporate cosy lounge areas with built-in cushioned seating in soothing earthy hues. Fans keep the room cool, and an iPod and speakers provide surround-sound. A compact, well-equipped kitchen is tucked away on one side, and a guest washroom is on the other. Finally, a home theatre, positioned on a mezzanine floor above the dining hall is equipped with a 61-inch TV/DVD player, surround-sound, floor mattresses, a great selection of DVDs, a library of books, and a desk with a computer for guest use.
