The Experience
Much as the sharp-angled, rectangular shell of Mizunara Chalet seeks to make a bold statement against the massive snow drifts parked outside, once you’re indoors, you’ll be surprised by its typically Japanese warmth and stylish elegance.
Indeed, behind its spectacular façade hides a wonderful home you can return to after spending the day cross-country skiing, hiking across the incredible backcountry, or practising your shots at the nearby Niseko Golf Course.
Mizunara Chalet is perfect for families or groups of friends. It has two comfortable king-size master bedrooms, each with stylish ensuite bathrooms with a bathtub and rain shower, as well as a large outdoor terrace which overlooks the awe-inspiring Mount Yotei.
On the ground level, you’ll also find a queen-size bedroom, along with a bunk bedroom which is sure to be a hit with children eager for a holiday sleepover. Both bedrooms share a spacious bathroom with a bathtub and rain shower.
Mizunara Chalet ’s sleek open-plan kitchen makes it a favourite among guests who love cooking and entertaining. It is fitted with a long dining table which can comfortably seat twelve people and is particularly well-suited for large gatherings.
The living areas are staggered across multiple levels. The beautiful blend of slate-grey concrete with the cream-coloured parquet, exposed bricks and floor-to-ceiling windows provide a lovely ‘Zen’-feeling throughout.
A seating corner with its chic, modern fireplace and the large living room fitted with comfortable leather sofas, provide excellent spots for hanging out and catching up on each other’s adventures.
And if you prefer outdoor entertainment, the chalet is conveniently located in Hirafu village, a mere stone’s throw from some of the area’s best eateries and entertainment venues.
With its striking yet elegant design, excellent amenities, daily housekeeping and central location, Mizunara Chalet offers mountain living at its swankiest – come winter or summer.

Location
Located in Hirafu’s lower village, Mizunara Chalet is a short stroll from many of the area’s dining and entertainment venues. Yet, despite its central location, the chalet’s surroundings are predominantly residential, and noise levels are generally kept to a minimum.
The village is at its most charming at night when a huge variety of restaurants attracts visitors from across the wider Niseko area and as far away as Kutchan.
Mizunara Chalet is a mere stone’s throw from great eateries like Steak Rosso Rosso and Ebisutei. Bar Gyu – famous for its fridge door entrance and spiced wine – is also located a short walk from the chalet.
During the winter season, the slopes of Mount Annupuri offer night-time skiing and are often lit up, thus providing a romantic backdrop for the whole village.
The Grand Hirafu Ski Gondola is one kilometre away and can easily be reached by foot, although an on-call driver is available to get you to and from the gondola during the day, or anywhere else in the village.

About Hirafu
Located a three-hour drive from Sapporo airport, Hirafu is one of four interconnected ski resorts (alongside Hanazono, Niseko Village and Annupuri) that make up Niseko – also known as the world's second snowiest ski area.
As a dining and entertainment hub, the village of Hirafu's vast number of stylish eateries has been one of the driving forces behind Niseko's stellar rise as a world-class tourist destination. From casual lunch hangouts such as the Green Farm Café, to stylish fine dining at Ichimura - one of two Michelin-starred restaurants in Hirafu - you'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to high-quality international and Japanese fare.
If you still have energy to spare, Hirafu's nightlife is as shiny and vibrant as its powder. Have some fun family time or make new friends in one of the traditional Japanese karaoke bars, or step through Bar Gyu's fridge door - quite literally - to sample its quirky jazzy vibes and rare Japanese whiskies.
Although the ski season stretches well into late spring, Hirafu's spectacular backcountry offers plenty of outdoor activities all year-round. From white water rafting on the Shiribetsu river or relaxing in one of the many thermal springs (or 'onsen'), to mountain biking down volcanic slopes or climbing the stunning Mount Yotei – there are countless ways to entertain yourself during the summer months.
About Niseko
Known as the world's second snowiest ski area, Niseko is famed for its incredible forested slopes and huge powder fields. Located a three-hour drive from Sapporo airport, the area's four interconnected ski resorts – Hirafu, Hanazono, Niseko Village and Annupuri – cater to all levels, from budding first-time skiers to accomplished off-piste snowboarders. Although the ski season stretches well into late spring, Niseko's awe-inspiring nature makes it a hub for outdoor activity all year-round.
Rooms
Thanks to its ingenious architecture and split-level design, Mizunara Chalet’s living spaces and bedrooms are bright and airy. The soft, creamy colours of the parquet flooring and the slate-grey minimalist furniture provide a lovely balance to the industrial-looking concrete interior walls.
Mizunara Chalet’s open-plan living areas are all located on the first floor. Arranged across slightly different levels and separated by a few steps, they offer an unexpected sense of intimacy.
The polished kitchen has all mod cons, as well as a kitchen island which transitions into a large dining table that can easily seat twelve people, ideal for large get-togethers with family or friends.
A few steps down from the kitchen, you’ll find a cosy seating area with a charming stone fireplace, perfect for warming up your feet after spending a long day in the great outdoors. Adjoining the seating area, there is a spacious lounge with a large flat-screen TV and comfortable leather sofas – an excellent spot for hanging out or watching a film with the entire gang.
The two king-size master bedrooms on the second floor have ensuite bathrooms which are fitted with a bathtub and a rain shower. Both bedrooms also have access to a large outdoor terrace with views of the majestic Mount Yotei and the surrounding mountains, a beautiful spot for catching the sunrise or having a barbeque.
The queen-size bedroom on the ground floor is well proportioned and has a separate bathroom with a bathtub and rain shower which is shared with the bunk bedroom that is located on the same level. As one can imagine, this a favourite among for children who love sleepovers – or indeed adults with a playful sense of nostalgia.
